Her current research focus and her civic action plan centers on the relationship between people’s faith and their behaviors regarding climate action.
Amanda's Civic Action Plan:
Amanda is creating a community organization based in Lancaster county called Sustaining Sustainability. This organization’s goal is to connect with religious leaders throughout Lancaster county from a range of different faiths in order to promote ideas about creation care. The long term goal is to build relationships with faith leaders from every corner of Lancaster county and offer them informational resources on climate change that are grounded in their religious principles.
For decades, messages about climate action have been made into a partisan talking point. Climate change is going to hit hard in Nebraska. Creation care is a way to understand how we can take better care of the natural world and preserve our environment to be more resilient. This is a message that centers residents’ religious and moral principles and underscores the urgency of climate action.
