The Fulcrum explores Nebraska’s growing civic spirit

Civic Nebraska recently welcomed The Fulcrum to the Cornhusker State as part of its national reporting project, The 50. Over four years, The Fulcrum is visiting each state to learn how Americans are building, sustaining, and strengthening our civic life. In Nebraska, they found a story of optimism and action, from expanding access to the ballot to cultivating a new generation of civic leaders. Executive Director Nancy Petitto and Rural Civic Health Program Manager Allen Chlopek each shared how Civic Nebraska helps fortify democracy in our state.

As The Fulcrum discovered, Nebraska’s civic life is strengthened every day by people who show up, connect, and lead with purpose. From restoring voting rights to fostering civic learning and engagement, we’re showing that democracy can thrive when everyone takes part, and when we work together to ensure that “we the people” truly means all of us.
