Nebraska Primary Election Update: What Voters Can Do Next

Nebraska’s statewide primary election has ended, but our work to support voters continues.

Through our Nebraska Election Protection Hotline work on Election Day, Civic Nebraska heard from voters across the state, from Scottsbluff to Lincoln, Omaha, and communities in between. Many questions focused on practical voter needs, including where to vote, how to confirm registration information, what ballot options were available, and how to make a plan for the next election.

One common question involved voters whose current address did not match their voter registration address. As Nebraska looks ahead to the Nov. 3 general election, we encourage every voter to check their registration information early and make any needed updates as soon as possible. Voters can use Nebraska VoterCheck to confirm their address, party association, absentee or provisional ballot status, and polling place locations.

Unofficial results from the Nebraska Secretary of State show statewide primary turnout at about 27%, with 339,302 ballots cast out of 1,257,063 registered voters. That means more than 900,000 registered voters did not cast their votes in the primary.

That also means there is a major opportunity between now and November to help Nebraskans get ready, especially voters who may need to register, update their information, learn what will be on their ballot, or make a plan to participate.

Voters can continue sharing their voting experiences with Civic Nebraska by emailing in**@***********ka.org or messaging us on Facebook or Instagram. These stories help us better understand what voters are experiencing across Nebraska and how we can continue supporting accessible, informed participation in every election.

Voters can also follow election results through the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website. Results posted there are listed as unofficial until the official canvassing process is complete.

And if you want to help voters in your community, Civic Nebraska welcomes volunteers across our programs. Whether you have a few hours or want to stay involved throughout the election season, there is a place for you in this work. Learn more about our Volunteer Programs
