Civic Nebraska

Position Summary: Civic Nebraska partners with Community Learning Centers to create opportunities and support services for improved student learning and development, stronger families, and healthier neighborhoods. These programs provide a healthy dinner, academic enrichment, and a fun, safe, civically engaged environment for youth after school. 

The Site Director position is a full-time, salaried position employed by Civic Nebraska and located within Lothrop Elementary School. Hours vary but extend until at least 6:00 pm on student attendance days with some evenings and weekends required. Site Directors function as neutral facilitators in neighborhoods by partnering with and utilizing a wide array of community organizations and agencies.

As our school community coordinator, you will get to;

  • Serve as an advocate for youth, families, and neighborhood residents.
  • Partner with the ELO Program Manager to plan, schedule and direct daily routines, activities, and operations of the site.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBO), local businesses, Omaha Public Schools (OPS) personnel, and neighborhood residents that support the goals of the program.
  • Work cooperatively with the Civic Nebraska administrators, school administration, and CBO’s in the development and oversight of the annual site budget and program planning.
  • Attend school team meetings, PTO/PTA meetings, OPS meetings, required Civic Nebraska staff meetings, and any administration meetings required by the school.
  • Partner with the People and Culture team to recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the performance of staff and volunteers.
  • Work with Programs Manager to facilitate program staff meetings and staff training and development.
  • Complete necessary reports and maintain statistical records including compliance with Collective For Youth, other funders, Civic Nebraska requirements, and Nebraska Department of Education
  • Review and analyze monthly financial reports in consultation with the Civic Nebraska finance team.
  • Partner with the Communications Director to develop and maintain public relations strategies that increase the awareness and utilization of the program activities.
  • Maintain community service resources and information to promote available opportunities and build community connections.
  • Oversee direct service programs related to after school/community programs that serve youth and families.
  • Plan and execute school-based events, family nights, and community partnership events which encourage family, community, and student involvement.
  • Demonstrate ongoing awareness of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles and apply cultural competencies to develop inclusive and responsive extended learning opportunities for youth.
  • Oversee the collection of Title XX subsidies processes from family enrollment to collection, maintain licensing and subsidy requirements for both Title XX and DHHS Licensing.

This position might be a good fit for you if you have;

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education or child/youth development preferred
  • Curriculum development experience 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record in relationship building
  • Strong communication, including verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, handle confidential information, and be adaptable
  • A minimum of two years experience working with school-aged children
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Salary & Benefits

This position will earn a salary ranging from $52,000 upward, dependent upon skills and experience. Benefit options include medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage, 80% covered by the employer. The position includes unlimited paid time off and a 401K option. This is a full-time, exempt position.
