Creating a more modern and robust democracy for all Nebraskans.
The Civic Action Organizer will build relationships, community, and networks of advocates across Nebraska in support of Civic Nebraska’s priority policy, civic education, voter engagement, and election protection campaigns. This role is not tied to one geographic region. Instead, the Civic Action Community Organizer will be responsive to the organization’s campaign priorities and will organize voters, residents, volunteers, and community members most impacted by the issues at hand.
The Civic Action Community Organizer will help coordinate Civic Nebraska’s civic action initiatives alongside other members of the Civic Action team. Responsibilities include community outreach, volunteer recruitment and leadership development, voter education, legislative organizing, get-out-the-vote support, and Election Protection programming in communities across Nebraska.
As our civic action organizer, you’ll get to:
- Lead direct outreach to voters, residents, volunteers, and community members across Nebraska based on Civic Nebraska’s priority campaigns and organizing needs.
- Build a base of community members to advance and protect voting rights, civic access, election administration, public policy, and civic education issues.
- Organize events, trainings, presentations, meetings, and community education activities in support of Civic Nebraska’s civic action initiatives.
- Support legislative organizing by helping community members understand policy issues, contact decision-makers, prepare testimony, attend hearings, and participate in nonpartisan advocacy opportunities.
- Contribute to local and statewide get-out-the-vote efforts by directly collaborating with the GOTV coordinator with training, canvasser support, and other program areas as needed. Facilitate voter registration, voter education, volunteer recruitment, and community-based outreach.
- Organize Civic Nebraska’s Civic Action Network alongside team members by recruiting, engaging, and supporting volunteers who want to take action through advocacy, education, mobilization, and election protection opportunities.
- Lead the Election Protection Program during elections, including volunteer recruitment, training, community outreach, and Election Day coordination.
- Help identify, recruit, and develop community leaders who can speak to their own experiences and help move others to action.
- Build and manage relationships with community partners, initiate new partnerships, and represent Civic Nebraska in external workgroups and coalitions.
- Track outreach, volunteer engagement, event participation, and campaign activity.
- Remain flexible and responsive to emerging campaign needs, including rapid-response organizing, community education, and statewide outreach priorities.
- Use GSuite and other digital tracking or database platforms to support outreach, volunteer management, campaign coordination, and internal communication.
