Civic Nebraska Receives Family-Friendly Workplace Certification

Civic Nebraska is honored to announce that we have been selected as a Lincoln Family-Friendly Workplace.

The new program by Lincoln Littles and Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development (LPED) recognizes employers who demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting working families with young children, implement family-friendly workplace practices for their employees and help make Lincoln a great place to live, work and play by prioritizing family well-being and early childhood support.

“We’re honored to be recognized as a Family-Friendly Workplace. As a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities, we know that this work begins by supporting the people behind the mission,” said Civic Nebraska Executive Director Nancy Petitto. “This recognition reflects our commitment to creating a workplace where our team can thrive both professionally and personally. It also demonstrates that mission-driven organizations can, and should, lead the way in building policies that support working families.”

The Lincoln Family-Friendly Workplace Certification lifts up policies and practices that businesses can implement to support working parents such as childcare assistance, flexible work scheduling and paid/unpaid leave. Employers that meet at least 7 out of 10 qualifying criteria receive the Lincoln Family-Friendly Workplace Certification.

“Family-friendly policies are not just good for employees; they strengthen the whole organization,” said LPED Director of Talent Development Allison Hatch. “Companies that adopt these approaches often experience lower absenteeism, reduced healthcare costs and a healthier, more resilient workplace culture.”

Additional organizations that also earned certification at this time include: Arbor Day Foundation; Assurity; BCom; Belmont Community Center; Black Hills Energy; Charter Title & Escrow; Children’s Nebraska; Dimensions Educational Research Foundation; Family Service Lincoln; Google; Las Abejitas Bilingual Education Center; Lincoln Children’s Museum; Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska; Lutz; Monolith Resources LLC; NEBCO, Inc.; Nebraska Investment Finance Authority; Nebraska Wesleyan University; NRC Health; Olsson; Schwisow Construction; Speedway Motors; Speedway Properties; Union Bank & Trust and University of Nebraska Foundation.

“We know that 75% of Lincoln’s children under six have both parents in the workforce,” said Lincoln Littles Executive Director Anne Brandt. “Family-friendly workplace practices ensure parents have what they need to be their best—at work and at home. When employers develop policies with families in mind, they create environments where both parents and young children can truly thrive.”
