On Sept. 23, 2024, Civic Nebraska issued the following statement on Sen. Mike McDonnell of Omaha’s announcement he would not support a special session to change Nebraska’s electoral vote allocation system before the Nov. 5 general election.
“We thank Senator McDonnell and all Nebraska’s leaders who are standing up to protect our fair and representative electoral system. This is not a partisan issue — this is about Nebraska voters knowing that their voices will be heard and that outside influence will not prevail over our democracy. Now, legislators can return their focus to the pressing issues facing our state.”
