Community Builder Workshop: How to testify at City Council

July 20, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Have you ever wanted to speak at Lincoln’s City Council, but you’re not sure where to start? Or maybe you’ve spoken during a comment period before, but you’d like to craft your statement about affordable housing alongside other housing advocates? Join Collective Impact Lincoln on Wednesday, July 20, from 5:30 to 7 pm to learn how to testify at City Council, review our policy initiatives related to housing, and be in community with other neighbors who want to see the city take action to ensure that all Lincolnites have access to safe and affordable housing.
We’ll start the evening off with a shared dinner at 5:30 pm, followed by a workshop, then time to write your testimony in small groups. The focus of this workshop will be testifying on housing rights, specifically about source of income discrimination, but you are welcome to attend and use what you’ve learned to testify about another issue you are passionate about.
Dinner (vegan options included) and supervised activities for children will be provided.
Check out our informal schedule below:
5:30 PM – 6:00 PM: Gathering and dinner – children are welcome to eat with their adults!
