Capitol Experience Days
Unlocking the statehouse and lifelong civic engagement for Nebraskans of all ages.
Civic Nebraska’s Capitol Experience Days are tailored to each participating group and immerse them in our state’s unique government. Your daylong session can include Q&A sessions with elected officials, observing floor debate or public hearings, building advocacy skills, behind-the-scenes tours, and mock committee hearings in which participants literally put themselves in senators’ chairs. Capitol Experience Days gives Nebraskans the tools and confidence to engage with our state’s institutions and the people with whom they are entrusted.
Schedule a Capitol Experience Day!
Please note that Capitol Experience Day is customizable to various age groups and subject matters. Additionally, Civic Nebraska has collaborated with teachers to develop lesson plans that align with state social studies, English, and reading standards.

Lincoln Public Schools is grateful for our partnership with Civic Nebraska to bring local government alive for high school students through the Capitol Experience field trips. As our school district continues to empower students to be civically engaged in their schools and communities, the opportunity to interact with government officials and see local government in action is invaluable to this endeavor. Our students and our community, and quite frankly, our democracy, are better for it!
