Sage Shadoan joined Civic Nebraska’s growing Voting Rights Initiatives team this summer, bringing expertise in data and outreach to our mission. Sage supervises our part-time canvassers and maintains the data that powers our statewide voting rights work. From nonpartisan get-out-the-vote programs to legislative advocacy outreach, she ensures that our work is aligned and effective across the state.
An Alabama native, Sage earned a degree in psychology and sociology from Jacksonville State University. There, she mentored undergraduates on similar academic and career paths. Sage then went on to complete a master’s degree in sociology at the University of Nebraska, focusing on the effects of pollution on environmental attitudes and behaviors.
Most recently, she worked at Nebraska U.’s Methodology Evaluation Research Core Facility, first as a project associate and later as a data specialist.
At Civic Nebraska, Sage is driven by the conviction that strong data not only clarifies our work but also strengthens democracy itself.
Outside the office, Sage is invested in community life. She tends a mutual-aid-based garden in Lincoln’s Near South Neighborhood, where neighbors share fresh produce and learn gardening skills. She also enjoys concerts, spending time outdoors with friends, horseback riding, and skating with No Coast Roller Derby of Lincoln.
We’re glad to have Sage here at Civic Nebraska. Join us in welcoming her; she’s at sa**********@***********ka.org.
