TROVE enhancements feature ’20, ’22, ’24 turnout

Nebraskans now have a more powerful tool to see, analyze, and improve electoral participation across the state since 2020.

Civic Nebraska rolled out key upgrades to its voter engagement map this week. Known as TROVE – the Turnout Research and Outreach Visualization Engine – the interactive platform now features complete voter participation data from the 2020, 2022, and 2024 general elections.

Initially launched in 2023 and featuring Nebraska’s 2022 midterm results, TROVE has become a dynamic, user-friendly, interactive map featuring granular voting data in Nebraska, right down to the Census tract.

By compiling multiple election cycles into one interactive tool, TROVE allows organizers, policymakers, educators, and everyday citizens to identify patterns in civic engagement and strategize accordingly.

“This is more than a data visualization tool. TROVE helps communities identify, understand, and engage with the unique local factors that affect voter turnout,” said Allen Chlopek, Civic Nebraska’s rural civic health programs manager. “From broadband access to ballot dropbox locations to the number of contested races, local variables play a big role in whether people show up to vote. TROVE shines a light on those hyperlocal drivers.”

TROVE allows users to compare turnout by county, precinct, and region over time. It also includes updated filters for demographic overlays, vote method breakdowns, and turnout by election.

“TROVE puts detailed, year-over-year election data into the hands of the people, from those working to strengthen our democracy at the ground level to everyday Nebraskans seeking to know more about voter behavior and voting factors in their towns, cities, and neighborhoods,” said Clara Wilson, Civic Nebraska’s director of voting rights initiatives.

“It clearly shows where Nebraska communities excel at get-out-the-vote efforts, voter education, and election awareness, and where more resources and visibility may be needed.”

Civic Nebraska developed TROVE to support data-driven civic engagement and electoral participation strategies, especially in rural and underrepresented communities.
