Gather with a common purpose: Civic Saturday is March 26

In a time of deep anxiety, disconnectedness, and political polarization, people need a place to come together in civic community — face-to-face or virtually — to reflect on and rededicate ourselves to the values and practices of being a contributing member in civic life within the United States.

That’s where Civic Saturday comes in. Join us at 11 am CDT Saturday, March 26, on Zoom for Civic Nebraska’s tenth Civic Saturday celebration. Our theme is Begin Again, and we’ll focus on the power of new hope and conviction.

What happens at Civic Saturday? We share music, poetry, readings of civic scripture, and what we call a civic sermon. If these elements sound familiar, it’s because Civic Saturdays are designed to be a civic analog to a faith gathering. We recognize the power of coming together in this way — with a sense of ritual and structure — in service of deepening connectedness and belief. In this case, belief in democracy.
