Wednesday, Feb. 1, is a big day at the State Capitol. At 1:30 pm CST in Room 1507, the Nebraska Legislature’s Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee will hear testimony on LB535, which would impose restrictive voter ID requirements.
Here’s some information so you can ensure state senators fully understand the costs, complications, and consequences of such a measure.
›› If you’re unable to deliver your testimony in person, please submit an online comment by noon today, Tuesday, Jan. 31. Here is the link to submit an online comment for LB535.
›› Please join us on Zoom at 6 tonight to prepare to testify Wednesday at the committee hearing. We will discuss what to expect at the hearing, write testimony, and then practice reading testimony with others. Register for the virtual session at this link.
›› Are you coming from Omaha to testify Wednesday? Black Votes Matter has arranged for the North Omaha Legacy Tours bus to drive advocates and testifiers to Lincoln.
Where: Target parking lot at 72nd and Dodge streets
When: Arrive by 10:30 am CST on Wednesday to board. The bus departs for Lincoln at 11 am with an estimated return time of 5 pm, depending on the hearing’s length.
If you’d like to reserve a seat on the bus, please email me ASAP. You can also reach out if you have any other questions.
Thank you for all that you do –
