Hello! My name is Paige Waite, and I’m Civic Nebraska’s civic health intern. I’ll be a fourth-year student at the University of Nebraska, studying advertising and public relations and women and gender studies. I’m excited to join the team and contribute to advocating for a fair democracy. I’ll be working with the civic health team, with a focus on Capitol Experience Days.
Here are five quick things about me.
1. Cat Lover
I have two cats, Marbles and Fi. Marbles is a very shy girl who is nine years old. Fi is the polar opposite, an almost 2-year-old who likes to think she’s a dog. Both enjoy their rent-free life watching the birds outside and fighting over having to share toys.
2. Houseplant Enthusiast
I have a houseplant addiction and recently got my hands on a banana tree, so – fingers crossed he’ll thrive outside of his natural environment. Double-fun fact: I actually hate bananas.
3. Horror Movie Fan
I’m a huge horror movie fan and will most likely end up putting on a scary movie if I can’t decide on something to watch. Some of my favorite series are the V/H/S movies and the Insidious franchise.
4. Podcast Creator
I have my own podcast! While in school, I had the opportunity to work for the campus radio station, 90.3 KRNU, and have been producing my own show for almost two years. It’s called “Music for Thought,” where I curate a playlist with stories and conversations to match.
5. Student Journalist
Also while in school, I’m the assistant digital director at The Daily Nebraskan, where I work with a great team of fellow student journalists. I’ve gotten to collaborate on some amazing projects like our new social media policy and covering various protests on campus.
