SUMMARY:2026 Strengthening Democracy Awards
DESCRIPTION:Civic Nebraska’s Strengthening Democracy Awards are an annual celebration of civic courage\, creativity\, and connection across our state. This September\, Nebraskans will come together to honor those who have been quietly doing the work of building a stronger democracy for all Nebraskans. \nThe event is open and inclusive. With a pay-what-you-can ticket model\, everyone is welcome to attend. \nThis year’s program\, at 5:30 pm CDT on Sept. 17 at Lincoln’s Delray 817\, will be a little different than previous years. This year\, we will celebrate America’s 250th birthday by looking toward the future\, asking: how can we invest in the generations of Americans to come? Instead of a keynote speaker\, we will host a panel of young civic leaders\, who will discuss the current state of our democracy\, their dreams for the future\, and what we can all do to help. \nAfter the panel\, we will recognize six Nebraskans for their contributions to a stronger democracy. \n›› Community Builder\n›› Civic Catalyst\n›› Champion of Learning\n›› Young Civic Leader\n›› The Jan Gradwohl Defender of Democracy Award\n›› The Founder’s Award
